American Red Cross Lifeguard Training Course

Next class dates:

Cost: $225*
*EPRC will pay for your Lifeguard Training class if you want to work for EPRC this summer. See the requirements below.
This class is an opportunity for young adults, 15 and up, to earn a Lifeguarding Certification. In this class you receive the Lifeguarding Manual, CPR face mask, Lifeguarding with Standard First Aid, CPR/AED for the Lifeguard, Blood borne Pathogens, and Emergency Oxygen Administration. This course is for experienced swimmers.

PRIOR OR CLASS:
  • You must show that you meet the prerequisites to a swim coach at Eagle Pointe prior to signing up for this class.
  • After passing prerequisites and paying for class in full, you will be emailed access to the home study materials.
  • After completing the online portion of the course, print the certificate of completion and bring it with you to class. (Or you can email the certificate to the class instructor if you do not have access to a printer.)
  • Attend all in-person sessions.

After the swimming requirements are met and you've paid for your class, you will be issued your book and study materials. It is strongly recommended that you study the material and practice the prerequisites because you will have to swim them at the deep water pool to pass the course. Lifeguard Prerequisites

(Swimming Requirements)
Participants must prerequisite test out 1 week prior to class and have the online portion done before 1st day.

Applicants Seeking EPRC Lifeguard Employment: Expand
  • Swim 500 yards continuously, using these strokes in the following order:
    • 200 yards of front crawl using rhythmic breathing and a stabilizing, propellant kick. Rhythmic breathing can be performed either by breathing to the side or to the front.
    • 200 yards of breaststroke using a pull, breathe, kick and glide sequence.
    • 100 yards of either the front crawl or breaststroke. The 100 yards may be a combination of front crawl and breaststroke.
  • Starting in the water, swim 20 yards using front crawl or breaststroke, surface dive 7–10 feet, retrieve a 10-pound object, return to the surface, swim 20 yards back to the starting point with the object and exit the water without using a ladder or steps, within 1:40.
  • You must tread water for 2 minutes using legs only.

$45 application fee due when prerequisites are passed

ARC Home Study Training

Study the materials on your own time and visit EPRC for the test.
Cost: $60 per person
All Home-Study ARC tests are by appointment only. 
We'll work with you to schedule a testing date & time that works around your schedule.

Online Class Outline Expand

The Adult, Child and Baby First Aid/CPR/AED Online course will prepare you to recognize and care for a variety of first aid, breathing and cardiac emergencies involving adults, children and infants. The course features award-winning simulation learning – an interactive experience where you will respond to real-world emergencies in a virtual setting. The course must be taken on a Flash-enabled PC (it cannot be taken on a tablet) with a high speed Internet connection. Allow approximately 2 hours 45 minutes to complete the course.

ARC Home Study Request

American Red Cross Basic Life Support

The purpose of the Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers (BLS) course is to ensure that individuals with a duty to respond (public safety professionals and healthcare provider(s) have the knowledge and skills necessary to respond to breathing and cardiac emergencies. The course emphasizes active, hands-on learning and uses scenario activities to help participants learn how to provide CPR, use an AED and relieve an obstructed airway for adult, child and infant patients.

Home Study Training

Cost: $60 per person
