Lifeguard Training Course

This class is an opportunity for young adults, 15 and up, to earn a Lifeguarding Certification. In this class you receive the Lifeguarding Manual, CPR face mask, Lifeguarding with Standard First Aid, CPR/AED for the Lifeguard, Blood borne Pathogens, and Emergency Oxygen Administration.

You must show that you meet the prerequisites to a swim coach at Eagle Pointe prior to signing up for this class. This course is for experienced swimmers.

After the swimming requirements are met and you've paid for your class, you will be issued your book and study materials. It is strongly recommended that you study the material and practice the prerequisites because you will have to swim them at the deep water pool to pass the course. Applicants Seeking EPRC Lifeguard Employment:

  • Swim 500 yards continuously, using these strokes in the following order:
    • 200 yards of front crawl using rhythmic breathing and a stabilizing, propellant kick. Rhythmic breathing can be performed either by breathing to the side or to the front.
    • 200 yards of breaststroke using a pull, breathe, kick and glide sequence.
    • 100 yards of either the front crawl or breaststroke. The 100 yards may be a combination of front crawl and breaststroke.
  • Starting in the water, swim 20 yards using front crawl or breaststroke, surface dive 7–10 feet, retrieve a 10-pound object, return to the surface, swim 20 yards back to the starting point with the object and exit the water without using a ladder or steps, within 1:40.
  • You must tread water for 2 minutes using legs only.

$35 application fee due when prerequisites are passed

Private Swim Lessons

Cost: $25 per half-hour
($30 non-member)

Available for all ages and ability levels. All private lessons are 30 minutes and scheduled based on instructor availability for the requested time. Click the button below to complete a form toe request lessons.

Ready to swim like a fish?

CPR/AED/First Aid

Lay Responder First Aid for those that need to know, but don't know how to respond in emergency situations. CPR/AED and First Aid certifications carry a 2-year certification with the American Red Cross.

Cost: $70 for EPRC members
$75 for non-members

Class Outline:

CPR Adult: Participants will learn how to perform CPR and care for breathing and cardiac emergencies in adults.
CPR Child & Infant: Participants will learn how to prevent, recognize, and respond to cardiac breathing emergencies in infants and children under the age of 12.
AED: Participants will learn how and when to use an automatic external defibrillator.
First Aid: Participants will learn how to recognize and care for a variety of first aid emergencies such as burns, cuts and scrapes, sudden illnesses, head, neck, and back injuries, and heat and cold emergencies.

Jr Lifeguarding

Cost: $85

(Minimum of 5 participants, Maximum of 8 participants)
This is a Red Cross course that offers children, ages 11-14 years old, a chance to learn about lifeguarding. We offer this course during special times of the year. During this class you will work on earning 3 Eagle Scout required badges, along with earning a Standard First Aid and CPR certification.

Babysitter Training

Cost: $85
Date: T.B.D.
(Minimum of 5 participants, Maximum of 12 participants)

This training is a class that will educate youth, ages 11-14 year old, to be safe babysitters. They will learn about safety, feeding, carrying, and changing diapers for infants & young children. They will also become certified in Standard First Aid & Child/Infant CPR.

Wilderness Training

(Offered as needed - must have 12 participants)

This class is used for people (ages 14 & up) who are in the outdoors, away from immediate medical assistance. This class is really good for Scouts & Scout Leaders.
